OpenStreetMap is a rich geospatial data source. Its history of large data imports and application in many GIS fields motivate the need for tools that simplify the difficult and time-consuming task of combining OSM and external geospatial data.

Hootenanny, an open source software that facilitates automated and semi-automated geospatial data conflation makes data merging easy, task-able, and customizable.

In this talk, we will discuss Hootenanny’s capabilities, the different conflation algorithms it includes, and how the software approaches OSM specific conflation challenges. We will also demo how Hootenanny can be used to import data into and export data out of OSM.
